pincers and encirclements - Siversk and Lyman
Ukraine can slow Russian advances to a crawl, but they will increasingly face the choice of losing men and territory or just losing territory while retreating to other more defensible positions.
Stay-behind and/or partisan forces could help. The preparation for that needs to come well in advance of any other retreat.

Operation Gladio was a covert NATO operation during the Cold War, designed to establish "stay-behind" armies in Europe to counter potential Soviet invasions and influence, often involving controversial tactics and connections to right-wing terrorism.

dulce et decorum est pro patria mori?
The following cartoons are even more disturbing than what I had in mind.

This poem contains the often-quoted lines:
Then out spake brave Horatius,
The Captain of the Gate:
"To every man upon this earth
Death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better
Than facing fearful odds,
For the ashes of his fathers,
And the temples of his Gods."[4][5]

The Marching Morons and ChatGPT
The film Idiocracy was based on this:
Basically, because Chinese people and dumb people are equally numerous, they could march in a never-ending parade past the same place because new dumb and Chinese people would be born along the way.
The inverse correlation of intelligence and fertility has been common knowledge for decades. ChatGPT merely shifted it to warp speed. American academic standards have been abysmal for a long time as well.
Here's a random visual aid:
I want to emphasize that IQ is irrelevant to the ability to raise children. There might even be a negative correlation. Eugenics was wrong and is wrong.
Regression to the mean is another factor. In other words, even if we tried to breed more smart people on purpose, we'd quickly hit a plateau. For the same reason, even if we tried to selectively breed people to be taller, we'd hit a limit there as well.
Bottom line, if you want to be smart, just read lots of books and talk with many people. And if you want your smart genes to passed on to the next generation, don't wait too long.
